ICYMI, there's a big shake up likely coming for the COAB and COCL: "After nearly two years of a rocky, uniquely Portland marriage, a group of well-pad Chicago academics and the local volunteer board overseeing Portland police reforms appear headed for a separation."
When will white men in America catch a break? For the next three seasons, Portland's Profile Theatre will only produce plays by women and people of color:
It’s a common-sense response to a deep-seated, well-documented lack of diversity and gender equity in theater. According to the Dramatists Guild of America, a national organization of theater professionals which surveys theater companies across the country to get a breakdown of who’s being produced, only 22 percent of productions from three theater seasons between 2011 and 2014 came from female playwrights. The numbers were even worse for playwrights of color, whose plays accounted for a paltry 12 percent of productions. Regionally, Portland’s numbers were even lower: Only 18 percent of productions from theaters surveyed were written by women, and only 10.4 percent came from writers of color.
"A Portland building inspector is under investigation after she admitted selling engineering software to contractors on buildings she helped approve, including the controversial Yard project at the Burnside Bridgehead,"the Oregonian reported this morning. Donna Henderson, the former assistant and interim Portland police chief, is now the city's interim liquor licensing coordinator.
"Already grappling with a wide-ranging state Justice Department investigation into his finances, Portland businessman Roy Jay is now battling in court over other issues as well,"the Portland Tribune reports:
Since last year, state Justice Department investigators have been probing whether Jay unlawfully profited from two nonprofits he headed, including payments that may have gone for clothing, cars and supported condos in Sunriver and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. At the center of that probe is a well-known initiative, Project Clean Slate, which has received more than $2 million from government agencies, other nonprofits and felons seeking to use the program to have their records expunged.
Now, Jay is facing a court battle over the Sunriver condo. U.S. Bank last month filed a lawsuit in Deschutes County to foreclose on the property, saying Jay hasn’t made a payment since March 2015.

Ted Cruz made waves last night at the Republican National Convention by taking the stage and refusing to endorse Donald Trump. It's the least-bad thing he's ever done in his life.
Speaking of the RNC, here's something less painful than watching most of the speeches:
