MUSIC—With notable exceptions (Crimson, Louis XIV, the county that contains Seattle), people and things with "King" in their names generally don't deserve it. That rule, however, does not apply to King Buzzo (AKA Roger Osborne), a founding member of the Melvins. Buzzo and his big-ass hair are punk royalty, and you should genuflect accordingly. COMEDY—Kevin Nealon was the best thing about Weeds for eight seasons. The consummate stand-up and SNL veteran rolls through town to spread his dry wit and smirking delivery to the Portland masses. I don't think he's much of a pothead, though, despite his Weeds character, so forego offering him a doobie and laugh at his storied jokes instead. CF

FILM—As part of the fashion-obsessed Fashion in Film series—cohosted by Portland Monthly's fashion editor, Eden Dawn (that name can't be real), and the Mercury's fashion columnist Marjorie Skinner—the Hollywood is screening Amy Heckerling's fashion-obsessed classic, Clueless! I have written "fashion" five times so far, which probably still isn't enough for Cher. EH

DANCE—You like your dance nights sweaty, bangin', and most of all DIRTY. So you owe it to yourself to check out Pulla Muscle—a butt-swangin' dance party featuring hot 'n' nasty rap tracks that cover New Orleans bounce and Miami bass, as well as twerks from LA's DJ Mustard. And it's all being spun by the sure hands of DJs Nathan Detroit, Freaky Outty, and Cooky Parker. WSH

MUSIC—Ohio's Wussy is, plain and simple, a great American rock 'n' roll band. With songwriters Chuck Cleaver (formerly of Ass Ponys) and Lisa Walker, they turn heartland rock on its ear, injecting punk urgency, roots-folk sincerity, and noise-rock sturm und drang into their propulsive, gorgeous sound. Don't miss a very rare Portland appearance—it could be years before the next one. NL

BALLOONS!—Whimsical, wonderful balloons! Full of hot air! Yes, you have to get up really early to actually see the balloon launch at Tigard's Festival of Balloons, and yes, they're basically floating advertisements, and no, you can't ride in one—but if you're into weird suburban festivals this promises enough rides, beer, and fried food to keep you going at least until Tualatin's Crawfish Festival. PARKWAYS—As Transportation Commissioner Steve Novick says: "It turns out roads are like teeth. '90S MUSIC—I don't think I'm going out on a limb when I predict that Veruca Salt can only get away with one pass on the reunion tour train, amirite? COMEDY—Funny Over Everything is the best comedy showcase in town, thanks to booking that regularly brings in respected comics who're right on the cusp of getting huge. Case in point: Jerrod Carmichael headlines tonight's show. He just recorded an HBO special—directed by Spike Lee, for chrissakes. Catch him now before he blows up. AH

FILM—It's hard to think of a better film sequel than 22 Jump Street... I dunno... maybe Aliens? But Aliens didn't have the never-ending series of laughs Jump Street (and its stars Jonah Hill and Chatum) provides, or its plethora of smart, hilarious dick jokes. However, I'll allow that Aliens is just as good... just in different ways. (I'm just saving Aliens' feelings. 22 Jump Street is better.) WSH

GRINDHOUSE—Technically, the star of the 1974 blaxploitation classic Truck Turner is Isaac Hayes. But the real reason you watch it is to have your wig blown back by Nichelle Nichols (Uhura from Star Trek) as the meanest madam you've ever seen, colder than a polar bear's toenails and meaner than a rabid dog. MUSIC—The Great Big Fais Do Do is a Cajun, country, and honky-tonk music fest that'll get your cowboy boots a-stompin'. Organized by local roots-music figurehead Caleb Klauder, the three-day to-do kicks off tonight with a visit from exceptional Minnesota twangers the Cactus Blossoms, plus some Cajun dancehall music from Dirk Powell and the Stumptown Aces.
