Last night Kanye West announced via Twitter that there are 21 Life of Pablo pop-up shops opening worldwide this weekend, and one of them is in Portland. The exact location will be announced 24 hours before its grand debut (presumably sometime this afternoon). West recently opened similar temporary stores in Los Angeles, Paris, and New York, where in two days he reportedly sold $1 million worth of merch from his collaboration with LA designer Cali Thornhill DeWitt. Other US cities with Pablo pop-up shops opening this weekend include San Francisco, LA, Las Vegas, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, and Boston. While his inclusion of Portland is a little shocking, West does have some new roots here—earlier this summer he announced a collaboration with Adidas, and listed a slew of job openings for his YEEZY team at the Portland-based company.
According to Vogue, "Each city will have its name spelled out on tees and hoodies with Cali Thornhill DeWitt’s gothic script in a myriad of bold shades reminiscent of the collection West showed at Madison Square Garden in February."Pitchfork has photos of the merch from his March pop-up in NYC, most of which cost hundreds of dollars. So if you've got expendable cash, no plans, and are willing to withstand crowds and excessive heat (temperatures will top 100 degrees), then definitely go check it out this weekend.
